Kolskaya NPP: Colours is handed to military unit guarding nuclear power plant

On 17 December command of military unit No. 3644 of interior troops of MIA of Russia for guarding of Kolskaya NPP received Colours. It became one of symbolical events in history of the unit which performs guarding of important strategic object.

Colours of the unit represents double-sided cloth with maroon cross. On the colours face according to Russian military heraldry state symbols are placed. On the reverse – heraldic symbols of Murmansk region, that in heraldic sense means connection of the unit with Polar region.

Colours presentation ceremony was held according to military tradition which was started in the XIX century by Emperor of Russia Aleksander the II. The first part is attachment of the cloth to flagstaff, that symbolized preparing of the flag to presentation to the unit. After that the colours with maroon cross was solemnly sanctified. The second part – solemn presentation of the symbol of warrior’s honor and valour to command of unit No. 3644.

All new developed symbolics of the unit was approved in accordance with Decree of President of Russia and enrolled into heraldic register of Ministry of internal affairs of the RF.
